CALOGENA

Description

Calogena is a subsidiary of the Gorgé industrial group (€550m sales, 3,800 employees), which has been active in the nuclear sector for over 20 years. Calogena is developing a 30 MW small modular reactor (SMR) specially designed for district heating. This project represents a major step forward in the decarbonisation of heating networks. Calogena is supported by France 2030 and has been selected by the European Commission. Calogena has an Experienced Team Calogena's management team is highly experienced in nuclear conception, operation, business development, and the district heating business. This diverse and seasoned team brings extensive expertise in nuclear design, operation, and construction, as well as significant experience in business development and district heating, positioning Calogena for rapid growth. Our Solution • Mature: Calogena's technical maturity is exemplified by its use of proven pool-type reactor technology, which has been safely operated in more than 200 research reactors worldwide for decades. The French safety authority rates Calogena as the most mature SMR project in France. • Safe: These reactors, frequently situated near urban areas, exemplify the reliability and safety of their design. This assurance is due to the exceptionally low ratio between the reactor's power and the substantial on-site water storage capacity (exceeding 1000m³). This configuration effectively eliminates the risk of core melting, thereby preventing any accidents with potential radiological consequences. • Competitive : Calogena leverages this existing technology to provide a cost-effective solution, using standard fuel and established waste management practices. The reactors operate at low pressure and temperature, reducing equipment requirements and operational complexity. With a scalable design and passive safety systems, Calogena's reactors are made for long-term self-sufficiency and minimal operator intervention.
