Description
The COVID crisis and the shortage of electronic chips had already reminded us of the fragility of European industry. The energy crisis seems to have been the final straw: thousands of companies have slowed down their activity in the space of a year, others have simply closed down or are considering relocating to countries offering cheaper energy.
Yet at the same time, governments have deployed unprecedented support measures and announcements of new industrial projects in promising long-term sectors (hydrogen fuel cells and electrolysers, green steel, etc.) have been made since the start of the energy crisis. And more energy-efficient practices have been developed.
Finally, how has the European industry survived the winter?
What are the damages and longer term implications?
What have been the best practices, both of governments and industries?
Are the new emerging projects adapted to the new energy context?
What measures would the European industry need to pursue its reindustrialisation?
